Mark Twain is the pseudonym for Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910), who was born in Florida, Missouri. Twain is recognized as a humorist but often other authors of the time could not give him the credit that his work deserved. Twain is credited as being one of the first to create truly American literature. His masterpiece is considered to be “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” This book shows the brutality that humans are capable of especially when dealing with race during the time of the books setting. Furthermore, “Pudd’nhead Wilson" criticizes racism by creating a mistaken identity plot between a white and black character. (Mark Twain Biography)
